Hey everyone, We hope you had a wonderful holiday and hopefully got a little time away from the shop to spend with family and friends. And now that its January, its back to the grind and hopefully it's time again to see the best sales numbers of the whole year for everybody. Normally these next 3 or 4 months are the busiest time for fish sales, and hopefully this year is no exception. We here at Nautilus are trying to keep things as exciting as possible for you to keep your customers happy and give you a reason to keep buying from us week after week. Which brings us to our main discussion:
FREE FISH ARE BACK! Any order of at least $500 in freshwater livestock will get to pick a free fish option, and any order of at least $1000 in freshwater livestock will get to pick TWO of the free fish options (or the same one twice, if you want). For those of you that have been customers of ours for years, you'll remember we used to give out a few free fish on every order. That unfortunately had to go away during COVID times since it because impossible to get enough fish to just sell normally for a while there. You'll also remember that what we used to do was let you pick between two different choices, and it was just 25 of this or 25 of that, and the 2 choices were always very cheap bread and butter type fish.
Things are a little different this time, for the better. Now you'll have FIVE choices each week instead of two. And the choices will be a much wider range of options, not just basic bread and butter stuff. However now instead of 25 fish, we're giving you 25 DOLLARS WORTH of free fish. So it might be a single big peacock cichlid as an option. Or it might be 250 feeder xray tetras. Options will change weekly.
The next big change is that now that we have a set dollar amount of the free fish, those will count towards your DOA credits. This is outlined in detail on the first page of the stock list, along with some examples to hopefully make it all make perfect sense, but the short version is: The value of the free fish we gave you will be deducted from the DOA credit amount. So if you have $50 worth of DOAs, and you got $25 worth of free fish, you'll get a $25 credit. But the best part is, if you have $15 worth of DOAs like so many of you do every week, you no longer need to waste your time sending those pictures to us to get your $15 credit. You'll come out $10 ahead after all's said and done because you already got $25 worth of fish to cover your 15 in losses.
Now, let's talk about what we normally do each week: The fish! Even though there were limitations due to the holiday shipping schedule we were still able to bring in a good amount of inventory to get everyone off to a great start to the new year. As you saw in the opening pic we got in quite a few new Discus including the much sought after 2.5-3" assorted Singapore. In addition to these we also have 2-2.5" Pigeon Blood, Red Turquoise, Cobalt and 1.5" Assorted Sri Lanka. We have some other much anticipated Singapore gems arriving later today that include Dwarf Pea Puffers, BB Gobies and several types of fancy shrimp. Other far east must-haves this week include Blood Parrots, Electric Blue Jack Dempseys and Gold Dojos.
Fortunately the holidays don't have much of an impact on Florida raised items. Got in plenty of great Cichlids this week including some unexpected but highly desired surprise guests. First are the medium Red Head Tapajos. Mentioned these a couple weeks ago and somehow the same supplier managed to come up with a few more. These are THE hottest selling Geo on the market today. The last ones were barely here for a day before selling out completely. The other hot Geo also at a medium size are the Balzani. These are typically a bit of a tough sell at the regular size but once they put some size on them they fly out of here. And speaking of fish that fly out of here once they've got some size to them we got a restock on 3" Red Devils last night. Most are "peeled" and showing great color. In addition to familiar items we got in a new Green Severum variant, Yellow Tiger, pic and description are down below.
And of course I can barely go a week without talking about some Florida raised African Cichlids. My top pick for the week are the select size Tropheus Duboisi. Certainly not a new species but an old standard at the perfect size. These are nearly twice as big as the ones we get from the far east with much darker black as opposed to the charcoal gray we typically see. We got restocks on just about all of the faves including regular, medium and large assorted Haps, medium mix male peacocks all three sizes on fancy mixed Mbuna. Not like this bares repeating but if you weren't already planning on placing an order now is the time to do it. Strike while the iron is hot!
