Got a new batch of OB Red Empress.  Most are the standard blotchy colors, but there are a few of these awesome solid pink guys in the mix as well.  Just wanting to show you how much variety there is to the fish under that name.

    News & New Items
    Hey Everyone,

Got a batch of FL bred African Cichlids this week that rivals the fish we got cherry picked for us around Global Pet Expo.  OB Red Empress, high-yellow OB Peacocks, large male assorted Haps, and OB Electric Butterfly Peacocks are all new.  The OB Fish are all fantastic, and even though they're all OB fish, the variance from one to the other type as well as within the same type is shocking.  The large mixed Haps are all fantastic and have some super nice Livingstoni, Venustus, Borleyi's and what looks like Marginatus or something similar.

Got a few nice new Rasboras in from the far-east to replace the couple that sold out last week.  Red Line, and Galaxy are both in stock this week and both came in pretty solid size.

In the most exciting news of the week, we got so much feedback from stores after our April Fools email (the one about the predatory insects) saying that they wished we actually did have that stuff, we have decided to bring some in and see how it goes.  We are starting off with the most tame of the options, Water Scorpions, AKA aquatic Stick-Bugs, AKA Water Mantis.  These are slow swimmers, don't escape from tanks, and will even eat flake food as it floats in front of them, and probably won't try to eat fish bigger than guppies or neon tetras.  They look pretty cool, like a stick insect that can swim, and have front legs like a praying mantis they use to grab their food.

In related news, we also have a new section on the list.  We moved all the stuff that is collected in the wild in Florida to it's own section.  That is where you can find the new Water mantis, along with the other native and invasive species that are collected here locally.  I think in the near future we are going to try and reduce the size of the "MISC" category at the end of the list and get things compartmentalized to make it easier for you to find the items you're looking for.  Things like Gobies or Eels I think we get enough variety of to justify their own section on the list.

Check out the pictures and writeups about the specifics below and give your rep a call if you have any questions

    Colombia
Green Neon Tetras are always extremely popular and sell quick. I'm a little surprised they're as popular as they are, honestly, because they're much MUCH smaller than the Florida-bred neons, but everyone seems to love these guys.
Red Phantoms came back in from Colombia and are small like usual.  Color is great though.
All of last week's wild cory cats sold out, and have been replaced with the new wild cory for this week, Punctatus.  Great size.
Clown Plecos got restocked from Colombia.  Super popular small pleco, they only get a few inches fully grown so make much better algae-cleaning inhabitants for most customers than common plecos.
Everything said above about Clown plecos applies to these Rubber Lips as well.
Bumble bee catfish are restocked like almost every week from Colombia.  Often overlooked small catfish, I'm surprised how few of my orders I process have these on it.  They're cheap, they don't eat tankmates unless they're tiny, and the catfish themselves only get a couple of inches.
Striped Raphael Catfish are about 3 inches this week and nice clean patterns.
Spotted Raphael are slightly smaller than the striped version.
    Tetras
Longfin Serpaes are coming in very nice lately and I 100% recommend them over the normal Serpaes.
Blind Cave Tetras are back, great size.  These are a great conversation starter for the store.
Rosy Tetra are back in stock.  We call them "false candy canes".  They're similar to a candy cane, but with a little bit less color.  Since Candy Cane tetras are available so very infrequently, these are still a fine option since you might be waiting 6 months for us to get them in.
Silver hatchets might not be the hardiest fish in the world, but they fill a perfect niche at the top of the tank, so that's why they're so popular.
Penguin Tetras are huge again this week.  Great option for a cheaper schooling fish.
Ember Tetras are plentiful and running large.  Great looking red fish that can go in nano tanks.  I personally think these should have the popularity of Chili Rasboras.
    Livebearers
    Red Dragon Dumbo Guppy
    Flamingo Guppy
Red Wag Platies are running large.  Definitely the best looking platy at the moment for the money.  I'd recommend going with these and the Sunsets for a nice bright tank full of fish.
Bumblebee Platies are probably the fanciest type we regularly get in.  These make a great breeding project for anybody looking to play around with some livebearers.
FL Bred Assorted Swordtails are back, and a decent mix.  Not many "greens" in the mix, so most fish have plenty of color.
Gold Sailfin Molly LG are looking great this week.  They're maybe slightly smaller than normal, but color is awesome and they're more than 50% males.
    Asia Imports
Galaxy Rasboras are back for the first time in a couple weeks and they're great size.  I think there's a decent chance that they didn't make it on the stock list, but we do have them so let your rep know if you're needing them.
"Redline Rasboras" are back in stock this week as well. Quotes around the name, because this batch has zero red on them so far.  We've gotten them plenty of times in the past where they do come in looking great so I know these can be a great fish after a short period of acclimation.
Rainbow Dace are back in stock for the first time this year.  This is a photo from last time we got them towards the END of last breeding season when they were fully colored.  They're currently STARTING breeding season, so they're not colored up like this just yet, but give them a couple weeks and the males will look like this.
Uaru Reg are here again and about 2-2/25 inches.  About the same size as a regular sized green severum, for reference.  These have always been one of my favorite New World Cichlids, as adults they look super cool and behave a lot like Discus.
Quite possibly the world's smallest Figure 8 Puffers therefore making them quite possibly the world's cutest Figure 8 Puffers. They are absolutely adorable at this size and we've got them on special to make the size a little bit more appetizing for you.
Rocket Gars came in a bit small a couple of weeks ago which is why I left them out of the email but now that they've had some time to chow down on feeder guppies they've nearly doubled in size and are good to go.

Platinum Green Tiger Barb are nice as always.
Choprai Danios are one of the best looking danio species out there.  You should google pics of them after they settle in, they get a lot of extremely nice coloration once they're not stressed.
German Gold Rams are looking awesome, and are FL bred.  I'm shocked they didn't sell out this past week, I think we put a picture in last week's email as well.
Celebese Rainbows are back in stock, and came in fantastic adult size.  Lots of bright yellow color.  Males flare their fins at each other to show off and make an awesome display.
medium Bosemani Rainbows are the best rainbow this week.  The males are in full blown adult coloration.
Emerald Rainbows are also very impressive.  The size on these is the largest out of the rainbows, and color isn't bad.
    Central/South American Cichlids
Still have a fair number of the Cobalt Discus in stock and they're on special this week!
2" Red Devils came in the same size as the 3 inch, so they're the better value between the two.  Lots of super cool piebald types like this one.
Not the most exciting fish, but they've been unavailable for about 6 months so we're mentioning now that Red Oscars are back in stock!
5" Heckelii are still here are still fantastic.  Streamers are nice and long, and they have super bright speckles of color down the sides, full adult coloration.
    Old World Cichlids
OB Red Empress, 80% look like this guy here.  We put a picture of a much different looking one as the cover photo at the top of this email, but this is what to expect most to look like.
Here's another neat looking OB Red Empress in the mix.  Just trying to show you all the variety that can come from this strain of fish.  You can try to request what color you're looking for and have your sales rep pick them for you if you'd like, but if we've sold all the blue ones and that's what you wanted, for example, we'll have to fill the other color form instead.
OB Electric Butterfly peacocks are new this week too!  It's been a while since we've bought this strain from the breeder, but they're super nice so we might need to get them more often.  Not sure what the name means, that's just what the guy calls them.  You can call them whatever you want after you buy them from us.
Large Assorted Male Haps are newly restocked as well.  Here's an awesome Livingstoni in the tank.  Check out the phot o below too, it's the exact same fish, 15 seconds later after taking him out for a photo.
    Same fish as above.
    Another Assorted Large Hap Male.
    Another Assorted Large Hap Male
Another Assorted Large hap Male.  I wish we could buy Redfin Borleyi like this in particular, but the breeder doesn't have enough so only puts them in the mix for us.
Another Large Male Hap.  Fantastic big male Venustus in the mix.
    Cats & Friends
Gold Nigritas are 2 inches and solid yellow, very little black "peppering" on this batch.
Tiger Shovelnose are 1.75-2 inches and have been coming in good quality.  Just make sure to keep plenty of food on them, they get skinny quick.  They'll be a foot long in no time though if you keep them well fed.
Albino Rainbow Sharks are limited lately, but still coming in most days.  We might fill them on Tuesday, scratch them on Wednesday, and then fill them again on Thursday.  We're doing the best we can but all of the sharks have been slim pickings lately.
    Inverts
Orange Rabbit Snails are a great snail that you might not have tried due to the price.  They're a livebearing snail that has one baby per month on average, so they can't become a problem for anyone's tank.  And they're on average great size.
Yellow Fire Shrimp are one of the best looking normally.  This batch is no exception, the photo probably needed more light to make them look like they do in person.
Red Cherry Shrimp came in suprisingly nice.  Like, to the point where I think these got accidentally filled as Cherry when they're supposed to be Red Fire or something else.
Blue Diamond Shrimp are in stock, like most weeks.
Water Mantis!  Another pic of them in water and writeup below.
Saved the best for last.... Water Mantis, AKA Water Scorpions, are in stock!  We got so much response from the April Fools email with the aquatic insects from stores saying they wished it wasn't a joke because they do have people looking for cool, unique wet pets like those.  So, here we are.  Starting off with one of the least controversial species to see how things go.  These have virtually no chance of harming humans, they will grab small food as it floats or swims in front of them and grab it with their praying mantis-like arms.   These are one of the hardiest animals on the planet, and have been well documented living in literal sewage water that no fish could ever live in, and seem to be totally unharmed by any sort of chemicals or water quality.  I think they'll be a big hit for anyone that likes having a "naturalistic" style aquarium or does biotope setups.
