    News & New Items
    Hey folks,

As the weather begins to shift and things cool off around the country that can only mean one thing...the busy season is almost here. If you haven't already planned some Black Friday promotions do it now. Even if those promos aren't specifically for that day you want everything in place ahead of time so you can order accordingly. So with that in mind now is a good time to start stocking up as the weather is still good down as is the availability.

That all starts to change once the temps really drop. So with that being said let's jump right into Florida raised goodies for this week. I'll dive right in with Rainbows since those always get impacted once things cool off. Have good availability on all the essential items i.e. Reds, Turquoise, Neon Dwarf etc. But the standout this week are the Parkinsoni. I always like to feature one of the lesser appreciated species, especially when they deserve to be right up there with the most popular ones. Size is great on these and the color is even better. Next up are the Angels. Most varieties are over sized but the two biggest standouts this week are the large Veils and the medium Blues. Can't go wrong any of them bit those two are head turners this week. And since Angels are technically a Cichlid I'm gonna take this opportunity to segue into a couple of new offerings we have this week. First are the Marbled Fenestratus. This is a Vieja species (not to be confused with the Protomelas type) so you know these are gonna get big. What's great about these is that unlike a lot of species with this piebald trait these are already showing awesome color and pattern breaks. Some species have to go through a "peeling" phase before that happens. The other is the 4-5" Tabasco Salvini. We offered these in a 1-2" size a couple months back and they went over like gang busters. I expect these to sell out even faster since they're practically adult size and the color is next level.

In other Cichlid news we finally got Bleekeri back in stock for the first time in nearly a year. If you don't recognise the name you might know them by their alias, Starry Night Cichlid. That cane get a bit confusing since there is a Tropheus Duboisi variant that shares that same moniker. These are in no way related. This a Madagascar native and grows to 12"+. For those of you who go sport fishing the adults of these almost resemble that of a Black Crappie. Not sure if these taste as good though lol. Looking to the Mbuna side of things we got some long lost favorites back in the mix this week. We'll start with the Chipokae. Old schoolers will know this one for sure but if you haven't been buying Lake Malawi fish since the 70s these may just look like Auratus at first. That changes once the males start to mature as they become an awesome shades of navy and royal blue as opposed to the shades of mud that male auratus turn into lol. But color not withstanding these are almost as aggressive. And while we are on the subject of Melanochromis we got in some gorgeous Mainganos. This is another one that has a very similar looking common counterpart, Electric Blue Johanni. As juveniles they are very difficult to distinguish from one another abut it becomes apparent once they reach maturity. Maingano are much darker with an almost black navy blue body adorned by electric blue pinstripes. Diehard Cichlid buffs will know the difference and will almost certainly opt for these as they are not nearly as common. And last but defifntely not least are the Albino Trewavassae. This is probably the most coveted of all the Labeotropheus.

Colombia is almost always the easiest section to write about because just about everything coming out of there is easy to pitch. If it's Peacock Bass you're looking for it's Peacock Bass we got. Three different sizes in fact. So whatever your budget or space availability is we got a Bass for you. But if big and predatory isn't your bag then maybe check out the wild Blue Rams. These don't come along nearly as often as the used to and hobbyists/breeders are always looking to freshen up their brood stock. As for something more uncommon we got in Sailfin Tetras. If you have never tried these you need to. Without a doubt the coolest, most unusual Tetra to call Colombia it's home. But the one I'm most excited about many would consider to be the homeliest, Hoplo Cats. These mud colored beauties make for one of the best community tank bottom feeders. Not only are they excellent scavengers but they are super peaceful and be kept just about anything. These came in as "Spotted" but are more of a mottled Tiger stripey appearance. But the one item that I can guarantee will sell out first will be the South American Gar. This is the "marbled" variety (name makes no sense since it has symmetrical spots but whatever). These came in with very limited numbers so don't sleep on them as they will be gone by the time I'm done writing this.

We will wrap up this week's newsletter with a trip to the far east. I'm gonna come in hot and start with what will most likely be the fastest selling item, Burmese Loaches. these have enough aliases to fill up an eye chart but we're sticking with the afore mentioned moniker. At the end of the day no matter what you decide to call these they are one of the best looking of the mid size Loaches and do a great job of eradicating unwanted nuisance snails. I mentioned these last week but I'm bringing them up again cuz they're awesome and that's the Guentheri Killies. Dollar for dollar they are the best value when it comes to Nothobranchius species. And while these don't usually fall under the "far east" imports conversation we got in another batch of new Guppy varieties from Sri Lanka. The names are ridiculous but the fish are awesome so who cares. The one that I thought was the goofiest seems to have the most recognition with hobbyists and that's the "Handsome Lad" who came up with that and why I'll never know as these look more like a cobra/snakeskin variant so at the end of the day that's all that matters. Just as goofy but just as awesome are the Elephant Ear Orchids. Guess they haven't seen Dumbo over there yet lol. These also have some snakeskin pattern in the body but large, lace patterned tails. But the one with the longest name is also arguably the most unique of all the new varieties and that's the Silver Door Black Lyretail. Say that three times fast. This looks to be an Endler's hybrid type whish means they can pack heavy and should ship very well. Not to mention the fact they are one of the best looking Guppies we've seen come through here.

    Colombia
No matter your budget we got a size of Peacock Bass to fit it this week lol.
If you go with the smallest size of the Peacock Bass this week be sure to keep the well fed. They need to keep their bellies full at all times otherwise they'll start going after each other.
Think this is the first time we've gotten wild Blue Rams since about this time last year. Once acclimated these tend to hold up better than their far east raised counterparts.
Sailfins are THE coolest Tetra to come out of Colombia. These can be a bit nippy so give them room and some shelter. Shredded black plastic works in a pinch.
Never seen such a consistent stream of incoming Marble Hatchets. Doubt it will last very long so stock up before the busy season gets here.
Marbled Gar are in for only the second time this season. Pro tip: keep the lighting a bit subdued on these guys to keep them from running in to the sides of the tank so they bruise their snoot.
Good number of the new Royal Plecos Are running very close to a medium size.
For the first time during my tenure here we have plenty of Farlowellas to go around. Doubt I'll be saying that again anytime soon.
Spotted/Tiger Hoplo Cats came in at a perfect size. These are basically giant Cories. Excellent scavengers and very peaceful. They have very small mouths so you don't have to worry about them swallowing smaller tank mates.
    Asia Imports
If you haven't read the email in the past few weeks then you've missed out on the Avocado Puffers, so here's a quick recap. This is a true freshwater species that tends to be less aggressive than some of the more commonly available brackish varieties i.e. Spotted, Figure Eight etc. These typically stay around 4-6" making them fairly manageable for most hobbyists and therefore an easy sell. Hence the reason we sell out of them almost immediately every time we get them in.
But if you like your Puffers brackish and mean we got in a fresh batch of Sotted this week.

I featuerd these last week but since they are one of my all time favorite fish I'm featuring the Guentheri Killies again. These are gorgeous little gems but don't let their diminutive size fool you. They can be very territorial especiall with other Killies so provide them with plenty of shelter. Despite their small size these are NOT to be considered nano fish and should be kept in 20 gallons or larger.
Burmese aka Kubotai aka Angelicus aka Polka Dot Botias are back for the first time in well over a year. No matter wht you decide to call them these grow up to be one of the coolest looking midsize Loaches in the hobby. As juveniles they look very similar to Yo Yo Loaches but once they mature they are very different in appearnce except for size. "Polka Dot" is probably the most descriptive of all their adopted common names.
This is what the Burmese Loach will look like as an adult
    Hot pics
    Elephant Ear Orchid Guppy
Handsome Lad Guppy(call them Redtail Snakeskin instead).
Silver Door Black Lyretail Guppy. Damn name is three times as long as the fish is lol.
Well there's never a shortage of great looking Rainbows in the house and this week's award to best in show goes to the Parkinsoni.
Lemon Blue Eye Bushynose are back. This is definitely one of the bigger ones. Most are around 1"
Gold Pearl Gouramis are running huge again.
Penguin Tetras are back and they are ginormous!
Not quite as big as the Pearls but still very nice are the regular Gold Gouramis. Also very tiger stripey this week.
Got in Florida raised Blue Angels at a medium size this week. These are not to be confused with the Blue Pinoy we get in on occasion. This is a completely different strain.
Large Veil Angels are the best looking "standard" Angel on the farm this week. Big with insane fins.
Select HC (high coverage) Koi Angels have a lot more orange coloration than the standard Koi as the same suggests. If you've been ordering the Select Koi lately you've probably gotten some of these in the mix since the supplier was running low on the standards. But those have gone back to normal so if you want more of that bright orange go with these, they all look like the one in the pic here.
    Discus
    Altum Flora Discus
    Bangkok Pigeon Blood
    Assorted 2-2.5"
    Cichlids
New(ish) fish alert! Got Tabasco Salvinis in a 4-5" size for the first time. Got these a couple of months ago at 1-2" and they were gone in a day and that was with them barely showing any color. These look absolutely incredible and they haven't even had a chance to settle in yet!
New(ish) Fish alert (again lol)! Got in Marbled Fenestratus for the first time in a million years and they look even better than the regular morphs. These look a lot like piebald Red Devils at a quick glance but I can guarantee these look even cooler as adults. Got a very limited number of these so you'll definitely want to grab some now!
3" Cubans are back but not for long. This is another one that came in with very limited numbers. These are still at a size where they can still be kept together but not for much longer so keep a close eye on them.
Green Terrors got a restock on both regular and select sizes this week. If you're gonna pick just one go with the selects(2021), both are nice but these are the. better value for the money.
Regular Managuense are running around1.5" on average with a few bigger ones in the mix. IMO this is one of if not the best looking of all the "tank busters" as adults.
    Old World Cichlids
Bleekeri are back baby! After nearly a year we finally got in a batch of Paratilapia Bleekeri aka Starry Night Cichlids. This is a Madagascar species that can be kept like a Malawian. These get 12"+ and can bee a little on the rough side, especially with each other. But at this size it's no problem keeping them together.
This is what the Bleekeri look like as adults. We do NOT have them at this size so your customers will just have to be patient and raise them up.
Got in some actual Maingano this week, not to be confused with EB Johanni. Very similar in appearance especially as juveniles but as adults true Manigano are much darker with thin electric blue pinstripes against an almost black navy blue background.
Albino Compressiceps got a restock this week. Not a huge fan of most albino morphs but this is one of the exceptions. Electric yellow with red trim in the fins. Males can even get a blue hue to them.
Albino Red Top Trewavassae are in at a regular size for the first time in ages. Male is on top just starting to turn color.
This is what male Albino Trewavassae will look like as adults.
