Hey Folks,
Big news today, and it's not good. If you only ship direct to store via UPS, you can ignore this part and skip down to the pretty pictures, but if you ship via Southwest Airlines, we just got hit with a doozy of an update.
Effective Immediately, Southwest Air Cargo is requiring a seperate airway bill (so in other words, a seperate "shipment") for fish, plants, saltwater corals, and reptiles. This means that if you have some plants on your order that you're picking up at the airport, for example, we would have to seperate that plant box into it's own seperate shipment, and Southwest would then charge you for 2 shipments when you pick up. "That's not so bad", you might say to yourself, "So I just need to run my credit card twice? that's fine". Well, here's where it gets bad: Southwest has a minimum charge of about $70-75 per air bill. So a tiny box of plants on it's own bill will cost you $75 to ship it plus whatever your fish cost. That might be totally fine if you have $300 worth of plants, then your cost to goods ratio is still pretty decent, but to add a few lines of plants to an order, you're going to pay more to ship them than the plants themselves even cost.
We are working with Southwest to get clarification on if there is anything at all that can be done to change this and make it work going forward, but as of now, we will basically be unable to ship your fish with a small reptile or plant or saltwater addition to it on Southwest.
This change comes as part of Southwest also making other sweeping changes that we have to do as the shipper. Things like "every box must have arrows pointing up that are at least 3 inches tall by 2 inches wide" and "Every shipment needs an animal wellfare form filled out telling Southwest how recently the animals inside have been fed and watered along with a list of every species in the shipment" or they won't accept the animal shipment anymore. This only affects us from our side, but just mentioning this so everyone realizes what sort of thing we are up against here.
Also, in unrelated news, Please don't forget THIS IS THE LAST GOOD WEEK FOR SHIPPING OF THE NEXT 3 WEEKS! Next week the week of Christmas, we can ONLY ship orders out Monday for Tuesday arrival. Nothing else can pack or ship next week. And the week of New Years, we only have Monday and Tuesday to pack orders on. So stock up this week and avoid the headache of dealing with holiday week shipping, trust me.

| Black Ruby Barbs are looking excellent right now, with males showing red coloration already. Great buy at the moment. |
| Kamaka Rainbows are looking absolutely perfect at the moment. Tons of males and they're nice and big. |
| Still have a few of the hybrid Syno Eupterus x Angelicus crosses. Definitely one of the best looking Syno catfish in the hobby. |
| Peacock Gudgeon Gobies are back and came in great size, I'm suprised the breeder didn't charge us for Medium size. Not a ton available so they'll go fast. |
| Pearl Gouramis are bigger than they have been for the last year or so at least. They're not BIG by any stretch, but compared to their normal size they're giants. |
| Red Panda Barbs are also showing tons of color already. These are a criminally underrated fish, great for peaceful community tanks and planted tanks. Males turn super bright red with black markings on them when mature. |
| Red Eye Tetras came in huge this morning. Hopefully this size continues through the week. |
| Penguin tetras are back, it's been a couple weeks since we have had any. |
| Medium Rainbow Cichlids sold out last week, but we restocked and the restocked fish are even better than the last batch. The males are absolutely living up to their names. |
| We have Bleekeri again! We thought we would never have them again, but luckily it looks like one of the other farms down here bought all the broodstock from Old World when he sold everything off, and got them to breed, so we have regular size available today. |
| This is NOT the size we have (likely never will again) but just to show you what the adults look like when mature. One of the coolest fish in the world. Like a Pygmy Sunfish on steroids. |
